Book Cover of My Mouth is a Volcano

Mrs. Moulton's First Grade class has hit the ground running!  After reading the story, "My Mouth is a Volcano", students were given a task to work out with their group.  They were given a tube of toothpaste, spoon, and plate.  They had to squeeze out all of the toothpaste.  Once the tube was empty, Mrs. Moulton asked them to scoop it up and put it all back in.  This is impossible, but after a few minutes of trying, she explained that the toothpaste is like our words.

Shouting out is easy, but we can't take those words back.  This also takes away from our learning time when we continue to let our words 'erupt' from our mouths.  Her class has learned the importance of being good listeners and our ready to learn more!
